NCO

NCOs are the backbone of the enlisted force. They train junior enlisted, enforce standards, and translate officer orders into action. Army/Marine NCO ranks begin at Corporal (E-4) or Sergeant (E-5). The Navy NCO equivalent begins at Petty Officer Third Class (E-4). Senior NCOs (E-7 through E-9) are the most experienced leaders in any unit.
