TSP

Thrift Savings Plan

TSP allows service members to contribute a portion of their pay to a tax-advantaged retirement account (traditional or Roth). Under the Blended Retirement System (BRS), the government automatically contributes 1% of base pay and matches contributions up to 5% starting after two years of service. TSP funds can be invested in stock and bond index funds. Starting contributions early maximizes the compound growth advantage.
